Karl-Johan Gombrii gave a presentation on the legal implications of piracy at the Inter-Pacific Bar Association Conference in Singapore from 3-5 May. The main focus of the Conference was on environmental issues and the Plenary was addressed i.a. by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew from Singapore and former US Vice President Al Gore. More than 1200 lawyers from the coastal states around the Pacific Rim attended.

In his capacity as President of the Comité Maritime International (CMI), Gombrii was also the Guest of Honour and spoke about the unification of maritime law at the 3rd Asian Maritime Law Conference which was also held in Singapore from 6 -7 May.
